In today Internet Marketing, Campgain tarcking very imporatant to get accurate ROI, but its need clean and correct tracking data, Now lots of tools and ways avialable to track Campgain analytic data like campgain tagging by using some source tag id .

How to create your tagging Plane

Before satrting any example for tagging Plan, I want to define some tracking parameters like

  • utm_medium : utm_medium parameter is identifies and tarck the medium/channel of any campaign, For Example if you start two type of campgain like email marketing and banner marketing then your utm_medium is email and banner.
  • utm_source : utm_source is identifies the source of medium/channel like If you display an banner on yahoo.com then your utm_source is yahoo.
  • utm_campaign :utm_campaign is identifies a campaign that is start with in one or more sources / channels or medium, For Example if you display your banner in Sep 2012 month then your utm_campaign is sep2012
  • utm_content : utm_content is an use for track more information regarding content and links.
  • utm_term : utm_term is basicaly used for tarcking specific ad-type of keyword
  • In below given following example, the website traffic comes from email, affiliate marketing, display marketing, social media and external partnerships. I will only use the required parameters,

    Email Marketing

    Variable parameters

    utm_source is variable for Affiliate network
    utm_campaign is variable for your affiliateID.

    Example For partnerships

    You can find these data in google analytic , If you installed google analytic script on your website. this date display with in Traffic Source as partnerName / partnerships.

    Variable parameters:

    utm_source is variable for your partner name
    utm_campaign is variable for your Offer

    Display Marketing
